The Berlin Area Historical Society along with the Berlin Public Library is sponsoring a free talk about the history of Indian lifestyles by historian and author Mark Walczynski on Thursday, September 20 at 6 pm. Walczynski’s talk, called “Completely Different, Exactly the Same” is an entertaining program that examines the cultural, technological, and economic aspects of 21st century American lifestyles compared to those of the Native Americans who once inhabited the area. Surprising similarities abound. The program will be upbeat and insightful for all audiences.
Mark Walczynski is a historian and author who specializes in the French Colonial-Native American contact perisod in the Ilinois Country and western Great Lakes region. His work has been featured in historical journals, magazines, books and DVD's. He is retired from the Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources and Illinois Valley Community College.
