Whooping Crane Program

Whoop it up at the Berlin Library with a fun, family orientated event on Whooping Cranes and Operation Migration.  Join crane enthusiasts, Mary and Bob Vethe, for this free educational program at the Berlin Public Library on Thursday August 23rd at 1pm.  This event will be sure to open your eyes to the triumphs and challenges involved in saving this rare and beautiful species.  There will be hands on items like eggs and feathers and a life size banner of a Whooper.  There will be take home activities.  And there will be amazing facts and stories about cranes.  For instance did you know that the Whooping Cranes almost became extinct in the early 1940’s with only 15 birds remaining?  Did you know that White River Marsh is the current site of an extensive reintroduction project for Whooping Cranes?  There will be so much to learn and do at this event, please mark your calendar and join us.
